The festival is held on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. The full moon symbolizes family reunion, and it is a time for loved ones to gather and enjoy each other's company.

Mooncakes are the most iconic food of the Mid-Autumn Festival. These round pastries are filled with a sweet paste, such as lotus seed or red bean, and often have a salted egg yolk in the center to represent the full moon. Sharing mooncakes with family and friends is a way to express love and good wishes.

In addition to eating mooncakes, there are many other traditions associated with the Mid-Autumn Festival. People hang lanterns, solve riddles, and watch dragon and lion dances. In some parts of China, people also make offerings to the moon goddess, Chang'e, who is said to live on the moon.
